Signs on one of the premier office buildings in Downtown Worcester will soon be changing.

The owner of 120 Front Street has received permission from the city to replace the signage for People's United Bank with that of the bank’s new owner, M&T Bank, according to documents on file with the City of Worcester.

The change is part of a rebranding of People’s United branches after M&T completed its acquisition of People’s United in April.

The downtown location will be M&T’s main branch in the area. It also has ATM’s at 75 Gold Star Blvd., Tatnuck Square (4 Mower Street) and 564 Main Street in Sherwsbury, according to its website.

The rebranding effort ramps up in the weeks ahead. According to the bank’s website, current People’s United customers will a welcome kit by the end of July. The date of the full changeover to M&T systems is scheduled for Tuesday, September 6th, according to the website.

According to a press release announcing the closing of the People’s United deal, “The combined company employs more than 22,000 people and has a network of over 1,000 branches and 2,200 ATMs that span 12 states from Maine to Virginia and Washington, D.C.”

M&T Bank now has 58 locations in Massachusetts.
