WORCESTER — The Worcester Animal Rescue League recently took in 19 dogs and puppies over a 4-day period through 3 separate large-scale intakes, launching what the organization described as an extensive effort to provide medical care, rehabilitation and eventual adoption for the animals.
The nonprofit said the new arrivals include 4 French bulldogs, a micro bully and 8 husky-mix puppies. The intake comes just days after 6 additional puppies were brought into the shelter earlier in the week, bringing the total to 19 dogs received over 4 days.

According to the organization, the animals came from homes where owners had become overwhelmed by a growing number of dogs. The rescue worked with the Worcester Police Department and Worcester Animal Control to safely remove the animals while also offering owners resources and spay/neuter assistance for remaining adult dogs to help prevent similar situations in the future.
The 5 bulldog-type dogs arrived with significant medical issues that will require extensive veterinary treatment before they can be made available for adoption, the organization said.

All of the dogs will receive veterinary examinations, vaccinations, parasite treatment, nutritious food and enrichment while in the shelter's care. Some will require ongoing medical treatment before they are healthy enough to find permanent homes.
The Worcester Animal Rescue League is asking the public for help by making monetary donations, contributing supplies such as wet dog food and Purina dry dog food through its wish lists, or adopting adult dogs currently waiting for homes. The organization said every adoption frees kennel space for future rescue efforts.
Monetary donations can be made through Facebook. You can also donate items through the shelter's Amazon wish list.
