John W. “Jack” McNamee

  • John W. “Jack” McNamee, of Jensen Beach, Florida, formerly of Worcester, Massachusetts, passed away suddenly at his home on April 10, 2026.

    Jack was predeceased by his parents, William and Kathryn (Sullivan) McNamee, and his sister-in-law, Karen (Meagher) McNamee. He is survived by his brothers, Owen McNamee and his wife Debra, of Port St. Lucie, Florida and Cullowhee, North Carolina, and William T. McNamee and his wife Eileen, of Oakham and Plymouth, Massachusetts. He also leaves behind his nieces, Kaitlyn (McNamee) Duke and her husband Braden, Lauren McNamee, as well as his nephew, William K. McNamee. In addition, Jack is survived by several step-nieces, step-nephews, and step-great-nieces and nephews.

    Jack’s friends were everything to him, and he leaves behind many close and lifelong friends. Known for his generosity and willingness to help others, Jack was often the first to lend a hand. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

    Jack was a graduate of St. John’s High School in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, and St. Anselm College in New Hampshire, and he also attended the Harvard University Graduate School. He served as a Vice President at Monster.com and worked as a recruiter for Sullivan and Cogliano and Raytheon Corporation. Later, Jack turned his focus to real estate, investing in Worcester-area properties and becoming a successful property manager. Jack also obtained a nursing degree while in his fifties and worked for a time as a traveling nurse.

    Jack and his mother, Kathryn, were the devoted owners and caretakers of the historic Robert H. Goddard home in Worcester. For nearly 40 years, Jack felt a deep responsibility to preserve the home following the passing of Esther Goddard, honoring it’s important place in history.

    Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 31st, 2026 at Athy’s Funeral Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester from 4-6 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on June 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, 1222 Main Street Worcester, Massachusetts. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. Following the internment family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at the Hibernian Cultural Center, 19 Temple Street, Worcester, Massachusetts, from 1-4 pm.

    In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack’s memory may be made to St. John’s High School, 378 Main Street Shrewsbury, Massachusetts 01545 (givecampus.com), or to St. Anselm College, 100 St. Anselm Drive, Manchester, NH 03102 (givecampus.com).
