Siblings, lifelong city residents, die days apart at 94, 89

  • WORCESTER — A brother and sister who were lifelong Worcester residents and children of Italian immigrants died less than 2 weeks apart recently.

    Lucy (Dagnello) Servideo, age 94, died Wednesday, May 6th, surrounded by family.

    Her brother, John Albert Dagnello, age 89, died Tuesday, May 19th, at his home.

    Both were born in Worcester to John and Josephine (Di Iorio) Dagnello and lived in the city throughout their lives.

    Lucy was a homemaker who cherished caring for her husband, home and children. She was married for 66 years to Frank S. Servideo Jr., who died in 2016. Family members said she took pride in her Italian heritage, welcomed relatives, friends and neighbors into her home, and enjoyed gardening, cooking and time around the kitchen table.

    She is survived by 4 children, 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and extended family.

    John served the city as a Worcester firefighter and later as chief electrical inspector. He also volunteered at Treasure Valley for the Boys Club of America.

    He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Cynthia (Mard) Dagnello, 3 children, 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, his brother Angelo Dagnello of Worcester, and extended family.

    Lucy's funeral Mass was held May 11th at Our Lady of Rosary Church, followed by burial at Notre Dame Cemetery. John's funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at Our Lady of Rosary Church, followed by interment at St. John Cemetery.

    Arrangements for both were handled by Mercadante Funeral Home and Chapel on Plantation Street in Worcester.
