The exhibition’s title “We all got history...” derives from a 1984 quote from Ellen Hazard, “the curator of the Hazard legacy, a family whose roots stretch back to 1800 and beyond.” Ellen reminded a Worcester Telegram reporter, “We all got history. Some of us just don’t know it. But it’s there. Just got to look for it.” Like Ms. Hazard, Worcester Historical Museum invites you to come explore to see where your story fits in Worcester’s historical narrative.

Since 1875, Worcester Historical Museum has been dedicated to collecting, preserving, interpreting, and sharing Worcester’s history. The museum’s vast collection reflects those who lived and worked in the city as well as the people, businesses, associations, and movements who contributed to the city from pre-settlement to present day.

Included in the exhibition is a small sampling of the museum’s collection that represents some of the people, places, and things that make Worcester the “Heart of the Commonwealth.” Each section in the exhibition offers a unique perspective with the inclusion of historic and modern objects, paintings, broadsides, and archival documents. These items invite you to see that unexpected objects are legitimate sources for the shared stories that are Worcester.

“We all got history...” Find yourself in Worcester’s history, knowing that everyone’s story is important, both to our shared past as well as to the next 300 years. “It’s there. Just got to look for it.”

The exhibit will be on view in the Booth Gallery at 30 Elm Street through September. FREE admission during July and August Worcester is made possible with support from the Tercentennial Committee and the many sponsors of the community-wide celebration.
