OXFORD — Michael Piers has become the first lucky winner to score a $1 million prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery's "$1,000,000 Snow Much Money" $5 instant ticket game.
The Oxford resident had purchased his winning ticket at Route 12 Variety at 126 Main Street in Oxford. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus.
Piers, who has been married for 33 years, opted for the one-time payment option, He will receive $650,000 after taxes.
Piers told the Mass. State Lottery that he plans to invest some of his winnings.
