Thomas Daige of Leicester won $1 million on a Powerball ticket Saturday, December 14th that featured a $47.9 million jackpot.
Daige won the prize after the first five numbers on his Quic Pic ticket matched those selected in the drawing.
He claimed his $1 million prize (before taxes) Friday, January 24th at the Massachusetts State Lottery’s Dorchester headquarters. He said he plans on putting the winnings towards retirement and a new set of golf clubs.
His winning ticket was purchased at Leicester Package Store, 869 Main Street in Leicester. The store receives a $10,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.
