A Worcester man has won a lottery prize worth $2.4 million, becoming the first grand prize winner in the ottery's new "Decade of Dollars" scratch ticket.
Vrushab Jadhav won the game's grand prize of $20,000 a month for 10 years, which totals $2.4 million.
Jadhav chose the cash option instead of receiving the monthly payments and received a one-time payment of $1.56 million before taxes, according to the lottery.
He told Lottery officials he plans to invest some of the winnings and put money toward school.
Jadhav bought the winning ticket at Jayzi Mart, 9 Pleasant Street in Leominster. The store will receive a $24,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
The "Decade of Dollars" scratch ticket went on sale last month. 5 grand prizes of $20,000 a month for 10 years remain unclaimed, according to the Lottery.
