Q.C.C., Bravehearts support student-athlete battling cancer

  • Tickets bought through Q.C.C. will benefit Jake Paskell and family

WORCESTER — The Worcester Bravehearts and Quinsigamond Community College are joining forces to support a QCC student-athlete facing a renewed battle with cancer.

On Friday, June 6th, the Bravehearts will host a special fundraising game at 6:30 p.m. against the New Britain Bees, with proceeds benefiting Jake Paskell, a 19-year-old Q.C.C. baseball player who is undergoing treatment for B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Paskell will be on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Tickets purchased through QCC.edu/TeamJake will directly benefit Paskell and his family. Each ticket includes a box seat at the game and free parking.

“Jake is an impact player and an incredibly hard worker,” said Q.C.C. Baseball Coach Corey Coleman. “To learn what Jake had been through just a year ago, to become one of the best hitters in Massachusetts… to me was unbelievable.”

Paskell’s first battle with cancer began in 2021. When he had to step away from the 2025 season for treatment, the team dedicated their season to him.

“We all know Jake is a fighter,” Coleman said. “All we talked about was when he steps on the field at Q.C.C. again, it’s going to be even bigger and better.”

According to Coleman, Paskell’s treatment is progressing well, and he is on track to return to the field this fall.

“We all knew that would happen because of the kind of kid Jake is, the kind of family that Jake has and all the support from the community,” he said.
