Bravehearts name Joe Galvin manager

  • WORCESTER — The Worcester Bravehearts have hired Joe Galvin as the team’s new manager, tapping an experienced coach with strong Central Massachusetts ties and a long record of leadership on and off the field.

Galvin most recently served as head coach at Fitchburg State University, where he guided the Falcons through several seasons of competitive growth. He earned recognition for emphasizing player development, building cohesive team culture and implementing a player-first coaching philosophy.

Before entering college coaching, Galvin played a key role with Shrewsbury Legion Post 397, one of the region’s most respected American Legion programs, where he helped develop dozens of athletes who went on to collegiate and professional baseball careers.

Galvin also brings decades of public service experience. A retired police lieutenant from Northborough, he is widely known in the region for his integrity and community commitment. He lives in Shrewsbury.

Bravehearts President Matt Vaccaro said Galvin embodies the organization’s values and competitive goals. “Joe is a proven leader, with a passion for community service and developing young athletes,” Vaccaro said. “His professional experience positions him well to connect with our players and fans.”

Galvin said he is eager to take on the role. “I’m honored to lead the Worcester Bravehearts,” he said. “This is a community I care deeply about, and I’m excited to help shape a team that plays hard, represents Worcester with pride and competes for a championship.”

The team said it looks forward to leveraging Galvin’s experience as it continues its mission of providing affordable family entertainment, expanding local partnerships and developing collegiate athletes for the next stage of their careers.
