Popular Worcester restaurant plans to fix parking woes

  • Quinn's Irish Pub could gain 15 parking spots behind KJ Baaron's package store across West Boylston Street (right).

A very popular Worcester restaurant that historically has never had enough parking is hoping to address the problem with an overflow parking lot.

The plan for 15 additional parking spots across the street from Quinn's Irish Pub will go before Worcester's Planning Board, according to documents on file with the city of Worcester.

"This lot is to be an overflow parking lot for the existing building ... at 715 West Boylston Street," the application reads. "That current lot fills very quickly on most nights. Even weekend days the current business lot is full."

Parking has been scarce since Quinn's opened in early 2016. There has been overflow parking on Roycroft Road as well as the Family Dollar next door.

The new parking lot is planned for land owned by National Grid behind the KJ Baaron's package store. According to the application, National Grid has leased the land that would be used for the parking lot.

A parking lot is planned on National Grid property behind KJ Baaron's on West Boylston Street.

The plan was first submitted in 2019 and withdrawn in November 2019. The original planned called for 23 spaces, but the current iteration calls for 15.

Drivers would walk down Roycroft Road and use an existing crosswalk that's handicap accessible.

The 15 new spaces would allow a second handicap spot at the restaurant.

The Planning Board's next meeting is schedule for August 31st.
