Joey's Bar & Grill (This Week in Worcester)
WORCESTER — Joey’s Bar & Grill is warning customers after discovering that a fraudster created a fake DoorDash merchant listing under the restaurant’s name, leading drivers to repeatedly arrive for orders that don’t exist.
In a Facebook post this week, the popular Worcester restaurant wrote: “We DO NOT use Door Dash at all! We have never put our menu on their website and we believe a scammer has set up our menu on their site. Please do not order through DoorDash. If you want take out please call us directly 508-797-3800.”
According to a MassLive report in May, the incident mirrors a similar spoofing case at Cima Restaurant & Chop House in Wilbraham, where a bogus DoorDash account prompted the delivery service to deactivate the merchant listing and launch an investigation. DoorDash confirmed to MassLive that it has deactivated the fraudulent account and is reviewing measures to prevent future spoofing.
Joey’s Bar & Grill said it is working with DoorDash to have the fake listing removed and urged patrons to place takeout orders by calling the restaurant directly at 508-797-3800.
The post added, “We are sorry if anyone has tried to order through them. We are doing our best to remove our menu from their site.”
