SHREWSBURY – A bartender at the Ground Round restaurant is being hailed as a hero after saving a customer who was choking.

Restaurant officials said bartender Justin jumped over the bar without hesitation and performed the Heimlich maneuver on a guest who was choking on his food. The maneuver successfully cleared the man’s airway, ending what staff described as a scary situation.

“The gentleman finished his meal, hung out a while and Greg, our other bartender, bought him a beer,” the restaurant wrote in comment on its social media post. “Positive vibes all around.”

Ground Round praised Justin for his quick action, posting, “Yesterday I saved a life and all I got was this wicked awesome t-shirt,” before adding that they are proud to have him on their team.
