Worcester restaurants planning for additional outside seating

    The Commonwealth announced on Friday that restaurants can begin reopening at the beginning of Phase 2 of the Reopening Plan, perhaps as early as June 8.

    “Restaurants may provide outdoor table service at the commencement of Phase 2 of the Commonwealth’s Reopening Plan,” the state notice reads. “Restaurants will be authorized at a later date and by a subsequent Phase 2 Order to commence indoor table service if the public health data reflects continued positive progression.”

    Three restaurants and a brew pub in Worcester are already preparing, having applied to the city to allow or increase their outdoor seating, according to legal notices published in advance of the Worcester License Commission on June 11.

    Park Grill on Park Ave. has applied for more outdoor seating

    Nuovo on Shrewsbury Street, Park Grill on Park Ave. and Quinn’s Irish Pub on West Boylston Street have all applied to an “alteration of premises” for outdoor seating.

    In addition, Wachusett Brewing has applied to expand outdoor seating at the Worcester Public Market on Kelley Square.

    Hearings on the applications will be held beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 11. “Members of the public may view the meeting live from the City Website at www.worcesterma.gov/video-on-demand,” the legal notices read. “Most meetings are also broadcast on the local government cable channel (Spectrum Channel 192). Public participation will be facilitated through a call-in number, 415-655-0001 (Access Code: 735751404). While no in-person attendance will be permitted, every effort will be made to ensure that the public can adequately access the proceedings in real time using technological means.”
