First 18 Worcester restaurants applying for outdoor dining

  • License Commission to meet Tuesday afternoon

    Eighteen restaurants will have their applications for expanded outdoor or sidewalk dining when the Worcester License Commission on Tuesday holds the first of three meetings next week.

    Gov. Charlie Baker is expected to announce on Saturday that Phase 2 reopenings will begin next week, meaning these restaurants could be seating customers outdoors as early as Tuesday.

    Those applying for outdoor dining include:

    • Peppercorns Grille and Tavern, 455 Park Ave.
    • Herbie’s, 1028 Southbridge St. 
    • Brown Square Civic Club, 639 Franklin St.
    • Lou Roc’s Diner, 1074 West Boylston St.
    • 99 Restaurant, 50 Southwest Cutoff
    • 99 Restaurant, 900 West Boylston St.
    • Sole Proprietor, 118 Highland St.
    • 111 Chop House, 111 Shrewsbury St.
    • 99 Restaurant,11 East Central St.
    • O’Connor’s, 1160 West Boylston St.
    • Volturno, 78 Shrewsbury St.
    • Wan Wang Bistro, 401 Park Ave.
    • Island Fin Poke, 287 Grove St. (41-42 Park Ave.)

     

    Five restaurants are applying for sidewalk dining licenses in addition to outdoor dining. Those are: 

    • Russo’s Restaurant, 65 Water St.
    • Kenichi Bistro, 270 Shrewsbury St.
    • Worcester Beer Garden, 64-66 Franklin St.
    • Brew City, 102 Shrewsbury St.
    • Lock 50, 50 Water St.

    The License Commission will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday. It will also meet Wednesday and Thursday, with the option of possibly meeting on Friday as the city works to help restaurants open under relaxed guidelines for outdoor dining with a streamlined process.
