In a Facebook post made Thursday, the restaurant announced “57 Highland street is accepting take out orders at www.taqueriadelpueblo.org or call 508-304-7778.” An announcement a few minutes later clarified that the Highland Street location will only be accepting curbside and takeout orders, with no in-person dining.

A sign in front of 57 Highland Street says the restaurant is looking for help.

The Highland Street opening came at the right time, as less than 24 hours later on Friday the restaurant announced that a fire in the kitchen of their Worcester Public Market eatery would close that location temporarily.

“Unfortunately, earlier today we had a fire incident in our kitchen at Worcester Public Market,” the post reads. “We will be closed until further notice.”

The Highland Street location opens at noon Wednesdays through Sundays. It can be found on Facebook here.

Taqueria Del Pueblo replaces Savepoint Tavern, Worcester’s first video gaming bar. Savepoint opened in October 2019, and closed about a year later, a victim of the COVID-19 pandemic.
