WEST BOYLSTON — A brazen midday robbery outside Gourmet Donuts on Saturday, August 19th has led to the capture of suspects in Leominster following a tip from a vigilant citizen who recognized the described getaway vehicle.

According to the West Boylston Police Department, at approximately 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, a bright yellow Kia Soul with no front license plate and a possible Florida plate on the rear, was involved in a "smash and grab" theft. 2 men reportedly broke the driver's side window of a parked car at Gourmet Donuts and stole a purse from the front seat. The victim’s bank card was subsequently used at a gas station in Worcester.

In a turn of events, one of the department's social media followers observed the suspect vehicle in Worcester on Sunday. The car was later intercepted by the Mass. State Police in Leominster. Some suspects fled the scene, while others remained. Items belonging to the victim from the previous day's theft were recovered and returned.

The crime, taking place in broad daylight with witnesses present, serves as a reminder about the dangers of leaving valuables in plain sight inside vehicles. The West Boylston Police Department cautions the public to always secure any valuables in the trunk if they must be left in a vehicle.

Any individuals with further information about this incident are encouraged to contact Sgt. James Bartlett or Sgt. Rick Petit of the West Boylston Police Department at 774-450-3510.
