West Boylston police debunk abduction rumors

    WEST BOYLSTON — The West Boylston Police Department issued a statement recently to dispell rumors that have been circulating on social media about alleged abduction attempts at the West Boylston Walmart.

    According to the department's Facebook post, there have been no recent reports of attempted abductions at the West Boylston Walmart, nor have officers responded to any calls of that nature at the store. The department acknowledged that they have responded to various calls concerning suspicious individuals, as they do at most businesses in the area, but clarified that no one has been physically assaulted by an unknown person in recent years.

    The rumors, which had been spreading for several weeks, claimed that abduction attempts were taking place at the local Walmart and that the police had been notified. These postings led to heightened public concern, prompting the police department to address the issue.

    "As always, be aware of your surroundings when walking to your vehicle in any parking lot. Keep your packages, wallets, and purses close to you, and call 911 immediately if you are concerned for your safety," advised the West Boylston Police Department in their statement released on Wednesday.

    For any concerns regarding personal safety or to report suspicious activity, the West Boylston Police Department advises calling 911 immediately.
