Police: Help ID of driver involved in hit-and-run of woman, 86

    LEICESTER — The Leicester Police Department is urging the public to assist in identifying a car involved in a hit-and-run incident that left an 86-year-old woman with serious injuries recently.

    The department issued an appeal for witnesses and information regarding the suspect vehicle, believed to be a silver Audi Q5 or SQ5, following the crash that occurred in the early hours of January 20th.

    The incident took place at approximately 12:40 a.m. near the intersection of Stafford Street and Carleton Road. According to police reports, the vehicle was last seen heading northbound on Huntoon Memorial Highway (Route 56) after the collision.

    The elderly victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, prompting a swift response from law enforcement officials. The Leicester Police Department has released a description and photos of the suspect vehicle, noting that it likely has damage to the front passenger-side bumper.

    In an effort to gather more information and locate the suspect, Sergeant Matthew Brady of the Leicester Police Department's detective unit is leading the investigation. The department has asked anyone with knowledge of the incident or the whereabouts of the suspect vehicle to come forward.
