AUBURN — A 14-year-old boy was arrested Tuesday after allegedly brandishing a gun on a Worcester Regional Transit Authority bus at Auburn Mall, escalating tensions and prompting a swift police response.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 19th, according to a social media post from the Auburn Police Department. Auburn police were alerted to a confrontation involving 2 males threatening 3 others with a gun aboard a bus. The altercation led the victims to seek safety towards the mall entrance.
Police dispatchers rapidly communicated detailed suspect descriptions to patrol officers. Despite all officers being initially occupied with other calls, they quickly redirected to the mall to manage the emerging threat.

Upon arrival, officers apprehended one of the suspects fleeing from the mall entrance. This individual, found to be unarmed but involved, faces charges in Worcester Juvenile Court. The second suspect was later found attempting to hide a weapon while running towards the parking garage. After a tense standoff, the individual surrendered a replica pellet gun, mistaken for a real firearm, and was arrested.
The 14-year-old suspect is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct, and disturbing the peace. He was also found to have 2 outstanding warrants from separate incidents. Following his arraignment, the juvenile was held without bail.
Auburn Police praised their officers for their professionalism and swift action, which led to a peaceful resolution. The department also thanked the Massachusetts State Police for their assistance during the incident.
