DORCHESTER — Sarah Megarry of Dudley hit the jackpot, winning a $1 million prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery's “Gold Mine 50X” scratch-off game, officials announced recently.
Megarry, accompanied by her husband Joe, visited the Massachusetts State Lottery headquarters to claim her prize. Opting for a one-time payment, she will receive $650,000 before taxes.
The lucky winner expressed her intention to use the newfound fortune to enhance her life, including going on vacation and spending time with family.
The winning ticket was purchased at Riverside Mart, located at 54 Canal Street in Millbury. The store will be awarded a $10,000 bonus for selling the million-dollar ticket.
