Thief who stole from homes in multiple towns gets 7-10 years

  • Property stolen from homes in Auburn, Holden and Princeton was recovered

A thief who burglarized homes in multiple area towns was recently sentenced to 7 to 10 years in prison.

David King, 48, of Dudley, was sentenced in Worcester Superior Court on May 30th, according to a release from the Auburn Police Department.

King will serve his term at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center, a maximum-security prison.

King was suspected of committing numerous residential break-ins in Auburn and surrounding communities during the fall of 2023. Security footage captured him committing burglaries in 2 different jurisdictions outside of Auburn. Detective Sgt. Lamoreaux identified King from the footage, recognizing a distinct tattoo on King's lower leg.

Princeton Police Detective Holly Doyle, who was also investigating King, obtained a search warrant for his residence. Stolen property from homes in Auburn, Princeton and Holden was recovered, leading to King's arrest.

On May 30th, King pleaded guilty to 3 counts of breaking and entering in the nighttime, 2 counts of receiving stolen property valued over $1,200, and 2 counts of receiving stolen property valued under $1,200. A victim from an Auburn incident attended the sentencing. Detectives will return the recovered stolen property to the victims soon.

The Auburn Police Department thanked Assistant District Attorney Edward Karcasinas for his leadership in the successful prosecution. They also recognized detectives from the Princeton, Leicester, Charlton, Shrewsbury, Dudley, and Holden police departments, as well as the Worcester County District Attorney's Office, for their dedication and tireless work in the investigation.
