RUTLAND — The Rutland Police Department arrested Shawn Baillargeon, 54, on multiple charges of sexual assault against children following a detailed investigation.
The arrest, made on Tuesday with assistance from the State Police, follows a report received on May 30th of past sexual assaults in Rutland over several years. The investigation, conducted by the Rutland Police Department Detective Bureau, revealed multiple complainants.
Baillargeon faces charges of aggravated rape of a child, rape of a child, and indecent assault and battery on a child under 14. He was arraigned at East Brookfield District Court.
The Rutland Police Department commended the bravery of the victims who came forward and encouraged other victims of sexual abuse to report incidents, promising support and action.
