Sex offender from Auburn arrested in N.Y., faces extradition

  • AUBURN — A man wanted by Auburn police was tracked to New York and taken into custody this week, authorities said.

Anthony Kline, 39, of Auburn, was arrested Monday in Schenectady, N.Y., on a fully extraditable warrant, police said.

Kline was wanted for violating the terms of his release from a prior conviction. Auburn police detectives began searching for him in November and December 2024 and discovered he had left Massachusetts.

Working with Schenectady police, Auburn detectives were able to locate Kline. He was arraigned Friday in New York on a fugitive from justice charge, where he waived extradition and will be returned to Massachusetts.

Kline faces additional charges in Massachusetts for failing to register as a sex offender, police said.

Authorities encourage anyone with information about criminal activity or individuals with arrest warrants to contact Auburn police detectives at 508-832-7777 or submit anonymous tips via text or email at textatip@auburnmasspolice.org.
