SHREWSBURY — Firefighters from Shrewsbury and Worcester assisted in the rescue of a family from a sinking boat Wednesday afternoon, according to a social media post from the Shrewsbury Fire Department.

It was the second rescue in just over 3 weeks. On June 29th, Shrewsbury police rescued 8 people after their boat began taking on water on the lake.

The boat began taking on water while out on the lake, prompting a joint response from both departments. All occupants were safely brought to shore without injury.

“Busy day on the water today,” the department posted. “This afternoon firefighters from both Worcester and Shrewsbury assisted a family whose boat was sinking. All occupants made it safely to shore.”

No further details about the incident or the number of people aboard were immediately available.
