BOSTON — 2 men from Shrewsbury were among 9 suspects arrested last week during a Boston Police Department operation targeting the sexual exploitation of women in the Massachusetts Avenue area near South Bay Mall.

Pradeep Mishra, 36, and Juan Jose Galdamez Surio, 24, both of Shrewsbury, were taken into custody on Thursday, July 24th, as part of a coordinated enforcement effort by Boston Police’s Human Trafficking Unit and Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police and the F.B.I. Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force.

The Boston Police Department announced the arrests in a release on Tuesday.

Mishra was charged with sex for a fee. Galdamez Surio faces multiple charges, including sex for a fee, shoplifting and trespassing. Authorities said all suspects are expected to be arraigned in South Boston District Court.

The multi-agency operation used undercover officers to identify alleged traffickers, exploiters and sex buyers as part of an effort to reduce sexual exploitation in the area, police said.
