Auburn raid nets 6 arrests, 2 guns in trafficking case

  • AUBURN — Auburn police arrested 6 people and recovered 2 loaded guns Thursday as part of a human trafficking investigation centered on a Chestnut Avenue home.

At 6:05 a.m. Thursday, July 24th, members of the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council SWAT team entered 43 Chestnut Ave. under a search warrant, announcing their presence by loudspeaker. Investigators had specific information about the potential for weapons in the residence, police said.

The search followed surveillance and digital investigation linking the property to human trafficking and daily drug activity, according to police. Detectives said the primary target, Benley Lysius of Auburn, used a digital device to advertise prostitution acts by several women at the address and collected the proceeds.

During the search, police arrested Lysius on a warrant for trafficking of a person for sexual servitude. In a related follow-up, Auburn detectives and Worcester police searched a Worcester storage unit and found a second loaded firearm. Lysius was identified as the owner of that gun and faces additional Worcester police charges for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Others arrested were Corianna Dupuis of Douglas on warrants and charges including shoplifting, resisting arrest and possession of a Class B substance; Rebecca Falke of Webster on two shoplifting warrants; Joseph Costin of Auburn on a warrant for operating under the influence of liquor and possession of a Class E substance; Precious Johnson of Auburn on a warrant for receiving stolen credit cards; and Tmarrie Johnson of Auburn on multiple firearms offenses, including possessing a large-capacity firearm without a license (second offense), possession of ammunition without an FID (subsequent offense), improper storage of a firearm, possession of a large-capacity feeding device, receiving an untraceable firearm and destruction of property under $1,200.

Police said the three women arrested are not believed to be victims of human trafficking.

Auburn police thanked residents who reported suspicious activity and encouraged anyone with information about criminal activity or the whereabouts of someone with an arrest warrant to contact detectives at 508-832-7777 or text/email textatip@auburnmasspolice.org. Tipsters may remain anonymous.
