BOYLSTON — A Boylston man who barricaded himself inside his apartment while armed with multiple guns was taken into custody early Thursday morning after a peaceful resolution, police said.

Boylston police said dispatchers received a 911 call around 3:30 a.m. from a resident of the Brookside Apartments who was in crisis and making threatening statements involving a gun. Responding officers determined the man had locked himself inside and confirmed he possessed multiple weapons.

Authorities called for additional support, including Boylston Fire, West Boylston Police and the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Crisis Negotiation Team.

Negotiators convinced the man to leave his home unarmed. Officers seized multiple guns, and Boylston Fire personnel evaluated the man before he was transported to the hospital, police said.

Boylston Police Chief John A. Annunziata praised the teamwork of all responding agencies, crediting their professionalism for ensuring the incident ended safely.
