K9 Biza tracks down 2 suspects after Home Depot tool theft

    AUBURN — A police K9 helped locate 2 suspects accused of stealing tools from Home Depot and hiding them in the woods behind BJ’s on Thursday, October 2nd, according to the Auburn Police Department.

    Police said witnesses reported a man pushing a cart of tools out of the store without paying and heading toward the nearby tree line, where a woman was waiting. Officers Matthew Rodwill and Matthew Laskes found the area where the pair entered the woods as Lt. Tarckini, Detective Sgt. Lamoreaux, Detective Alexandrovich and Officer Miglionico established a perimeter.

    Officer David Ljunggren and his K9 partner, Biza, arrived and tracked the suspects, locating them hiding in brush within minutes, police said. The suspects were identified as Jose Rosario, 39, of Worcester, and Samantha Neary, 31, formerly of Greenfield.

    According to police, Rosario had 3 outstanding warrants and Neary had 5. Both were charged with shoplifting in connection with the incident and were arraigned Friday, October 3rd, in Worcester District Court. Police said the stolen tools were recovered and returned to the store.
