New exit opens at Shoppes to ease holiday traffic jams

    MILLBURY — Shoppers navigating seasonal traffic at the Shoppes at Blackstone Valley now have a second way out.

    Millbury police announced Friday that an additional exit-only roadway has opened to help relieve congestion during the busy holiday stretch.

    The new route is located to the left of Dick’s Sporting Goods, providing a direct way for vehicles to leave the plaza. Officers are stationed in the area to assist drivers and keep traffic flowing smoothly, police said.

    Motorists using the exit will follow the driveway toward Shaw School. At the bottom, vehicles must take a left onto Elmwood Street, which leads drivers toward Route 146.

    Police urged caution as traffic is expected to remain heavy.

    “Please drive carefully,” the department wrote, noting what most shoppers already know: the mall is busy right now.
