Kraft surprises fallen officer’s family with Super Bowl tickets

  • New England Patriots

FOXBOROUGH — What began as a routine visit to Gillette Stadium turned into a moment of national recognition and gratitude for the family of a fallen police officer.

Shannon and Matthew LaPorta, the wife and son of Uxbridge Police Officer Stephen LaPorta, were surprised with tickets to Super Bowl LX during a recent visit to Gillette Stadium, according to a social media video posted by the New England Patriots.

The pair were attending a stadium tour when Patriots chairman and C.E.O. Robert Kraft revealed the surprise.

LaPorta was killed in the line of duty on January 7th after he was struck by a car on Route 146 while helping a driver whose car was disabled.

In the video, Kraft is seen personally presenting the tickets and honoring the sacrifice made by LaPorta, thanking his family for their service and resilience. The moment was met with emotion from those in attendance.

The Patriots said the gesture was intended to recognize Officer LaPorta’s service and to support his family following the tragedy. The tickets will allow Shannon and Matthew LaPorta to attend Super Bowl LX.

Officer LaPorta served with the Uxbridge Police Department and was remembered by colleagues and community members as a dedicated officer and family man.
