AUBURN — Auburn police are asking for the public’s help identifying a deceased dog found January 12th off Hardscrabble Road, as investigators continue to look into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
In a public appeal, the Auburn Police Department said the dog, now being referred to as “Hardscrabble Doe,” was an older female wearing a pink collar when she was found. Police said the dog appeared to have been recently fed and cared for.

“This dog belonged to someone,” police said in the release. “And someone knows exactly how she ended up there.”
Investigators are asking anyone who recognizes the dog, knows who owned her or saw anything unusual in the area around January 12th to come forward. Police said even the smallest detail could be important to the investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to call Auburn police at (508) 832-7777 or email textatip@AuburnMassPolice.org. Anonymous tips are welcome.
