    WEST BOYLSTON — West Boylston police are warning residents to take extra precautions after a recent string of car break-ins, or “smash-and-grabs,” at the Mass. Central Rail Trail parking lot on Thomas Street.

    in a Sunday morning social media post, police said other departments in the area have reported similar activity at their rail trail access lots.

    With warmer weather drawing more people outdoors, West Boylston police urged visitors to secure their vehicles before heading out for a walk. The department advised people to lock their cars, roll up their windows, avoid leaving valuables in plain sight and stay aware of who else is in the parking lot.

    Police also asked the public to report any suspicious activity.

    The department said residents can expect to see an increased police presence in and around the parking lot area.
