RUTLAND — A Rutland man recently escaped injury after his pickup truck became engulfed in flames in a parking lot, police said.
According to the Rutland Police Department, the man was driving a Chevy Silverado on Tuesday when he noticed a strong odor and unusual heat coming from the dashboard area.
The driver pulled into the Rail Trail parking lot on Wachusett Street. Moments later, police said, the truck became fully engulfed in flames.
No injuries were reported.
Rutland police officers assisted with traffic while the Rutland Fire Department extinguished the fire.
