SHREWSBURY — A driver escaped without injury overnight after a car went off Route 20 and over a retention wall, according to the Shrewsbury Fire Department.
The crash happened at about 1:30 a.m. on Route 20 at Stoney Hill Road. Shrewsbury police, Shrewsbury Fire Department Engine 3 and Worcester E.M.S. responded to the scene.

According to the Fire Department, the driver was trying to avoid hitting a deer when the car left the road, went over a 25- to 30-foot retention wall and landed on its roof deep into the wood line.
The driver was able to get out of the vehicle and climb up out of the woods. No injuries were reported.
