Donation or oopsie? Valuable item found in shelter donation bin

Someone may have donated way more than they expected.

The Second Chance Animal Services is asking the public to help identify the owner of a valuable item that was discovered in a donation bin at its Adoption Center in East Brookfield.

In a social media post, the nonprofit said staff found "something VERY valuable" while sorting through donated items. The organization believes the item may have been accidentally placed in a donation bag and is hoping to reunite it with its rightful owner.

Anyone who recently dropped off donations at the Adoption Center and believes they may be missing something valuable is asked to call 508-867-5525 and describe the missing item. If the description matches what was found, the shelter said it will return the property to its owner.

The shelter is also asking the public to share the announcement to help spread the word. It emphasized that its social media accounts are not monitored by the adoption team and asked anyone with a potential claim to call the adoption center directly rather than send a message online.

Second Chance operates its Adoption Center in East Brookfield and community veterinary hospitals in Worcester, North Brookfield, Southbridge and Springfield.
