The Auburn Police Department took a tongue-in-cheek approach in a social media post announcing the arrest of a Worcester man whose attempted getaway on a W.R.T.A. bus quickly came to an end after an alleged gun incident outside a McDonald's.
According to police, officers responded Tuesday, July 7th, to the McDonald's on Auburn Street after receiving a report of an argument in which one of the people involved allegedly flashed a gun.
Witnesses told officers the suspect boarded a Worcester Regional Transit Authority bus after the confrontation. Police joked that relying on a bus that stops every few hundred feet was not the best escape plan, adding that the suspect was soon "BUS-ted."
Officers quickly located the bus, conducted a traffic stop and identified a man matching the caller's description. During the investigation, witnesses identified a black crossbody bag belonging to the suspect. Police said officers developed probable cause to search the bag and recovered a loaded revolver.
Investigators said the suspect admitted the bag belonged to him, along with everything inside it, except for the loaded gun. Police also determined he did not have a license to carry.

Christopher Desrosiers, 20, of Worcester, was arrested and arraigned in Worcester District Court on charges of carrying a gun without a license, carrying a loaded gun without a license and possession of ammunition without an F.I.D. card.
The Auburn Police Department credited Officer Rodwill, Sgt. Santos, Sgt. Wildman, Detective Alexandrovich, Detective Chipman, Officer Walker, Officer Myers, Officer Markvenas, Officer Ortiz and the department's 911 dispatchers for quickly locating the suspect and safely recovering the gun before anyone was injured.
