STURBRIDGE — A Florida tractor-trailer driver is facing drunken driving and other charges after Mass. State Police said he struck an unoccupied cruiser outside the Sturbridge Barracks and then attempted to leave the scene.

According to State Police, the crash occurred Monday when a tractor-trailer driven by Timothy Dorsey, 50, of Pensacola, Florida, hit a parked State Police cruiser outside the barracks. The impact pushed the cruiser over a curb and into a light pole.

Police said the tractor-trailer continued over nearby shrubs before circling behind the barracks in what appeared to be an attempt to leave the area. Troopers stopped the vehicle moments later.

During their investigation, troopers reported that Dorsey was unsteady on his feet, had glassy eyes and smelled of alcohol.

Dorsey was arrested and taken to Dudley District Court for arraignment on charges of operating under the influence of liquor, leaving the scene of property damage and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

No troopers or members of the public were injured in the incident.
