Auburn police seek video after dog killed by vehicle

  • AUBURN — Auburn police are asking for the public's help identifying a vehicle and driver after a dog being walked by its owner was struck and killed Wednesday night on Stone Street.

The collision happened just before 8 p.m. September 30th as the dog and its owner were walking along Stone Street, according to the Auburn Police Department. The dog's owner was not struck.

Police said the vehicle did not stop after hitting the dog and fled the area toward South Street.

Investigators are asking residents in the Stone Street and South Street area to review home security, doorbell and exterior camera footage that may have captured the vehicle around the time of the collision.

Police are also asking anyone who witnessed the incident, has video footage or has information that could help identify the vehicle or driver to contact the Auburn Police Department. Information may be provided anonymously.

Anyone contacting police is asked to reference case No. 26-1438-OF.

“This was a member of someone’s family,” police said in the social media post. “We are asking for the community’s help in identifying the vehicle involved and determining exactly what occurred.”
