A car, pickup truck and oil tanker truck crashed Monday morning at the intersection of Route 20 and Edgemere Boulevard (Google).
SHREWSBURY — A driver was killed Monday morning in a 3-vehicle crash on Route 20 in Shrewsbury involving a car, pickup truck towing a trailer and an oil tanker truck, police said.
Shrewsbury police, firefighters and Worcester E.M.S. paramedics responded to the intersection of Route 20 and Edgemere Boulevard at approximately 11:51 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, for a report of a crash with injuries.
According to police, the crash involved a westbound 2011 Honda Accord, an eastbound 2019 Ford F-250 towing a trailer and a 2005 Kenworth oil tanker truck that was stopped in the eastbound lane waiting to turn left onto Edgemere Boulevard.
Investigators determined that the Honda and Ford collided head-on, with the oil tanker sustaining secondary damage from the initial collision.
Responding officers found the Honda driver unresponsive with serious injuries and immediately began lifesaving measures. The driver was transported to a local hospital, where the person was later pronounced dead.
Police did not release the victim's identity or provide information about injuries to the other drivers.
The crash remains under investigation by Shrewsbury police officers Charland and Fleury, the Central Mass. Law Enforcement Council Crash Reconstruction Team and Mass. State Police detectives assigned to the Worcester County district attorney's office.
"The Shrewsbury Police Department expresses our condolences to the loved ones of the victim of this tragic crash," the department said in a statement Monday afternoon.
