Overnight: No one hurt in fire at Auburn senior living facility

    Firefighters made quick work of extinguishing a fire that threatened residents of an Auburn senior living facility overnight.

    A fire in the attic of Brookdale Senior Living, 667 Washington St., Auburn, was brought under control quickly, according to Auburn Fire Rescue.

    At 2:39 a.m. Auburn Fire Rescue tweeted:" Great job this morning by @auburnmassfire 1st arriving companies with a quick knockdown of a fire in the attic at Brookdale Senior Living, 667 Washington St. Thier staff quickly evacuated the building. Fire under control, no injuries to residents, staff or FF's."

    Fire departments from Oxford and Millbury assisted. 

    Oxford Fire's posted on Facebook at 12:44 a.m. that it had "been assigned to division 2 to assess for extension and overhaul." 

    Millbury Fire covered Auburn's station during the fire, according to a tweet at 2:03 a.m.

    "Car 1, Car 3, Engine 1, and Engine 2 responded to Auburn for station coverage while Auburn Fire was working a structure fire on Washington St.," the tweet reads.

    The fire began in a dryer vent, according to Auburn Fire Rescue, which tweeted, "@MAFireDistrict7 FIU on scene has determined the cause of the fire to be a dryer vent."
