2 area bars dealing with positive COVID tests among customers

  • Two well-known area bars that feature live music are dealing with the effects of patrons testing positive for COVID-19.

Shortly before 2 p.m., Greendale’s posted: “If you were at Greendales Sunday or Tuesday night you might want to get tested for Covid-19. Was just informed a customer tested positive. We are having it deep cleaned. We will be closed tonight. Stay safe Thanks.”

Prior to that, shortly after 9.a.m., Halligan’s posted that it decided: “to pause ALL bands until things lighten up for awhile.  We have two Friends hospitalized and have had 2 band that have tested positive.  Its truly a heartwrenching decision, but we feel its the right one.”

The post goes on to say that the bar will remain open.

While a majority of the comments on the post were positive, some attempted to cast blame. In response, the bar made a follow-up post after 9 Wednesday night. The post stated that 5 members of the band that played at Halligan’s on Friday night had since tested positive, but that band members weren’t sure where they were exposed.

Halligan's Bar in Auburn will temporarily halt live music

“Unfortunately, we cannot pinpoint if the band had caught the virus at Halligans due to patrons being previously exposed or if they unknowingly had contracted covid before their show on Friday,” the bar posted. “Please stop pointing fingers, casting blame and instead hope all involved and all that attended will be healthy and well.”
