Jack's Tiki Tavern will open Thursday at the site of the former Scal's Sports Bar (Google)
A Worcester bar that the city shut down over a lack of sprinklers is set to reopen Thursday in its new location.
Jack's Tiki Tavern will open at the corner of Main and Mill streets, home of the former Scal's Sports Bar.
"Formerly known as One Eyed Jack’s, the new business Jack’s Tiki Tavern will solely consist of great fresh cocktails with fun garnishes that always have fresh fruit in them," Jack's announced in a Facebook post.
"We will also have local craft, domestic beer and seltzers to choose from," the post continues.
"Although we do not have a kitchen to serve our amazing food, we will have catered food on some nights while you enjoy yourselves."
One-Eyed Jack's former location at 433 Park Ave. was last open on New Year's Eve.
According to a MassLive article, One-Eyed Jack's owner David Thacker, "explained the city’s Division of Inspectional Services told him and his landlord the bar could no longer operate without a sprinkler system."
According to the article, Thacker "already had a lease on the 3 Mill St. space for about a year and a half, with the intention of opening a second bar about a mile down the road from the first. ... Now his plan is simply to focus on opening on Mill Street instead."
"We will be opening this Thursday February 23rd ready to rock the boat," Jack's Tiki Tavern posted.
