A Worcester bar that relocated when the city denied its reopening after last New Year's Eve has now closed.
Jack's Tiki Tavern at 3 Mill Street announced on Wednesday that it was closing. It opened to the public on February 23rd.
"The time has come and we are moving out of the city," reads a post on the bar's Facebook page. "Stay tuned for the when and where. Our valued customers and our team want our kitchen back so we can deliver some of the best food around, so thats[sic] what we’re gonna do soon."
Jack's Tiki Tavern was previously known as One Eyed Jack’s when it was located on Park Ave.
According to a January MassLive article, One-Eyed Jack's owner David Thacker, "explained the city’s Division of Inspectional Services told him and his landlord the bar could no longer operate without a sprinkler system."
According to the article, Thacker "already had a lease on the 3 Mill St. space for about a year and a half, with the intention of opening a second bar about a mile down the road from the first. ... Now his plan is simply to focus on opening on Mill Street instead."
The bar's most recent post read, "It’s been fun and we hope to see you when we reopen in our new location with our full menu and then some."
