Update: Worcester police find car involved in hit-and-run

  • Update: The Worcester Police Department announce shortly after noon on Friday that it had found the car involved in the hit-and-run.

    "The vehicle involved in this incident has been recovered by police," the department wrote on a social media post. "The investigation is ongoing. The WPD is also looking to locate the electric scooter that the victim was riding."

    WORCESTER — The Worcester Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run that left a 26-year-old male seriously injured.

    The incident occurred shortly after 3 a.m. on Friday, July 19th. The victim was traveling east on June Street on an electric scooter when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver did not stop and fled the scene.

    Surveillance videos captured the vehicle, described as a blue 4-door sedan equipped with fog lights and rims. The vehicle is expected to have damage on the front passenger side bumper, hood, or possibly the windshield.

    The Worcester Police Department is continuing to investigate the case. They urge anyone with information about the incident to send an anonymous text to 274637, using the code TIPWPD, or to submit a web-based message at worcesterma.gov/police. Additionally, tips can be reported by calling the Worcester Police Crash Reconstruction Unit at (508) 799-8674.
