WORCESTER — Worcester police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 28-year-old man early Monday on Dorchester Street.
Officers were dispatched to the area around 2:35 a.m. after receiving a report of a man shot inside a truck. Upon arrival, they were flagged down and directed to the unconscious victim in the vehicle. Police confirmed the man had been shot and rendered medical aid before paramedics transported him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The fatal shooting was the second in a number of days. A man was shot and killed late Friday night on Grand Street. A 24-year-old was arrested in the slaying.
Detectives have launched an investigation and are urging anyone with information to come forward. Tips can be sent anonymously via text to 274637 with the keyword TIPWPD, submitted online at worcesterma.gov/police, or provided by calling the Detective Bureau at (508) 799-8651.
No arrests have been announced, and police say the investigation is ongoing.
