WORCESTER – Ahead of the preliminary election scheduled for September 5th, Worcester's District 5 City Councilor candidates will converge for an interactive forum on Wednesday, August 23rd. The event is slated to begin at 6:30 p.m. at the I.B.E.W. hall at 242 Mill Street.

Incumbent Etel Haxhiaj and challengers Jose Rivera and Edson Montero will discuss their visions for enhancing the district. Attendees can expect insights into how each candidate plans to improve living conditions, support businesses, enhance schooling and promote tourism in the district and the city at large.

Notably, the forum won’t just feature moderator-driven questions. The event promises a lively discourse, giving candidates an opportunity to question each other, offering a unique perspective for the audience.

This D5 forum will be moderated by Hank Stolz, host of "Talk of the Commonwealth" on the Radio Worcester Network; Gary Rosen, a former District 5 and At-Large City Councilor; and Kiernan Dunlop, a general assignment reporter at MassLive. The trio urges District 5 voters and other community members to attend, emphasizing the forum's potential to inform and shape voter decisions.

Those unable to attend in person need not miss out. The forum will be live-streamed on the MassLive Worcester Facebook page and on www.radioworcester.com, ensuring accessibility for all interested parties.

With the preliminary election just around the corner, this forum serves as a crucial touchpoint for District 5 residents to become acquainted with the visions and stances of their potential future representatives.
