End of an era
Crown Bakery, a Worcester institution since 1960, has closed permanently.
A sign reading, "SORRY WE ARE PERMANENTLY CLOSED" was placed on the front door of 133 Gold Star Blvd. in the last 10 days.
"Original plans for the bakery were drawn up in 1959, and Lundstrom opened Crown Bakery in 1960," according to a 2018 article in the Telegram & Gazette. "His son Jon Lundstrom owned the business from 1994 until last July when he sold it to Jen LaPointe of Dudley, who had been a cake decorator at Crown since 2000."
