    UPDATE: The town of Holden has reopened Quinapoxet Street after its recent culvert replacement, according to a social media post.

    Shortly before 1 p.m. Friday, the town posted an update that read simply, "Quinapoxet Street is now OPEN!"

     

    HOLDEN — The town of Holden's contracted construction team is making significant strides in the replacement of culverts on Quinapoxet Street, with the project nearing completion.

    In a recent Facebook post from the town, officials announced that the new culverts have been successfully installed and are effectively managing the flow of water in the area. The head walls, essential for the stability and functionality of the culverts, have been constructed as part of the project's progress.

    Additionally, the bypass pipes and pumping systems, which were temporarily put in place during construction, have been removed, signifying a critical milestone in the endeavor. The construction site has also undergone backfilling and compaction procedures to ensure the area is restored to its pre-construction condition.

    Despite the impressive progress, town officials did note a potential hurdle in the final stages of the project. Rain may cause delays in the upcoming paving.

    Once paving is completed, which is expected to occur soon, the road will be fully reopened to the public. Officials anticipate that Quinapoxet Street will likely be accessible shortly after the New Year, marking the successful conclusion of this vital infrastructure improvement project.
