Holden Days returns Saturday with music, food, parade

  • HOLDEN — Main Street in Holden will come alive today as the town celebrates the 44th annual Holden Days festival.

    The event, sponsored by the Friends of Holden Days and the Wachusett Area Chamber of Commerce, will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a parade, live music, food vendors, children’s games and dozens of local businesses and organizations.

    Entertainment begins with the Moore Brothers Band at 9:30 a.m., followed by Decades by Dezyne at noon. Kids’ Court at Bubar Field will feature family activities, music from OnCue Entertainment, and a live animal “meet and greet.” The Gale Free Library’s Book Cellar will also be open from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

    Festivalgoers can browse the craft corner, art lot and marketplace, sample fare from the food court at the Damon House, and visit local churches and businesses offering games, giveaways and promotions. Highlights include an antique car exhibit, lawn games, and appearances by the Worcester Railers and the Roaming Railroad.

    Free trolley service provided by the Worcester Regional Transit Authority will shuttle visitors between festival sites from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Traffic detours will be in place on Main Street during the parade.
